Created in 1943 from the former NBC Blue radio network, ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Company and is part of Disney-ABC Television Group. It first broadcast on television in 1948. Corporate headquarters are in Manhattan in New York City, while programming offices are in Burbank, California adjacent to the Walt Disney Studios and the Walt Disney Company corporate headquarters. The current slogan is "Start Here", except television idents continue to use the former "America's Broadcasting Company" slogan. Before the "America's Broadcasting Company" slogan, television idents used the full corporate name from 1997–2000. The formal name of the operation is American Broadcasting Companies, Inc., and that name appears on copyright notices for its in-house network productions and on all official documents of the company, including paychecks and contracts. A separate entity named ABC Inc., formerly Capital Cities/ABC Inc., is that firm's direct parent company, and that company is owned in turn by Disney. GNU Free Documentation License How do i get around video streaming problems that won't allow sites to stream into Canada? (ex. Hulu, NBC, etc Q. I know canada has laws prohibiting american companies from broadcasting their content into canada but i was figuring i could get around this by maybe blocking my ip or something like that. Q. Ok so here's the rule that has me worried "You are ineligible if you, or any member of your immediate family and/or anyone liveing in your household, is an employee, officer, director, agent and/or representative of Fox Broadcasting Company, AT&T Mobility, LLC, or any of the parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents or representatives of any of the foregoing entities." My mom is a phone rep for AT&T spanish line and all she does is help people with any questions they have about their bill. Just because my mom works for our local AT&T means i cant audition??? Here is the thing... IF you do get to a certain point, they will indeed thoroughly check out your background. And worse, the media will scour anything out there for info about you and your family. So, you do risk getting so far and then having it all taken away from you on a technicality. Also if they find out, it will make you look like a total liar in front of millions of people. And believe me, Fox will milk it for all it's worth. The problem that I see is the affiliate/subsidiaries part. So it's up to you. Why not try out for some of the other shows out there? Personally, I think American Idol is sadly more of a popularity contest than one based on your true talent.
