From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Bronze is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive, but sometimes with other elements such as phosphorus, manganese, aluminium, or silicon. It is hard and brittle, and it was particularly significant in antiquity, so much so that the Bronze Age was named after the metal. The word Bronze is believed to be cognate with the Italian: bronzo and German: brunst, perhaps ultimately taken from the Persian word birinj ("bronze") or possibly from the Latin name of the city of Brindisi (aes Brundusinum -Pliny). I remember the clerk at the paint store telling me this could be done. Without going back, can someone please tell me how to do it and what I will need? The most heavily used knobs are now shiny brass instead of a rustic bronze...and those heavily used knobs are all in my kitchen. Maybe I should eat out instead and just close the doors! For that reason, I would go with the easiest fix possible. Why spend a lot of time doing it "right" when it's going to wear off either way? I would use some craft paints (get at JoAnn's or wherever) in bronze and copper. Get both because they're only a buck a bottle and when I did this to my light fixtures I found I needed to use some of each to get the bronze I wanted. Dab or sponge on the paints. Try to keep it smooth so it doesn't feel "texture-y". When dry, hit the knobs with a spray laquer to make the finish last a little longer and seal it in. And eat out more. ;) Answered by madhousewife - Sun Mar 9 00:09:57 2008 What is the best way to clean oil rubbed bronze faucets without damaging the finish?
