A. In many cases, you have to be invited to be on the Board, and nominated by one of the current members. You are accepted if the nomination is passed by a majority of the standing board. So if there is an organization you really want to be a part of, you can get a copy of their annual report, and see the list of current board members. You can send any one of them them a letter of introduction, explain your interest in the organization, and 'pitch' yourself as a potential member. If you are sincere and can be an asset to the organization, you may get an invitation. But you may need to show your dedication first - either by volunteering for the organization or making one or more substantial donations.
