What is the Independent and dependent variable from this experiment?
Q. "Mrs. Smith's biology class is doing a lab on which trait will be best in winning a thumb wrestling match. It can either be the length of the thumb, the circumference of the wrist or the circumference of the thumb. The students use a rule, string and their thumbs in this experiment. What is the independent variable? What is the Dependent variable?" So can anyone help me? What's the independent variable and what's the dependent? I really don't understand =/ Thanks so much!

How does one become an independent travel agent?
Q. How does a person become an independent travel agent? I am looking for the following information: General cost of courses Length of courses The amount of money (generally) a travel agent makes yearly Is there a high and low season for travel agents? When you are independent, do you work through an established agency for a fee? Last but not least, if you have any websites that go into good detail, that would be helpful. My husband brought it up and I'm checking it out. Thanks.

A. All you have to do is go to your college. You can get either a diploma or a degree, but a degree will better help you to achieve this. I am a travel agent and I graduated in December with my degree. It takes about 2 years, depending on how much time you put into it and how many classes you take. If you want to, you can try to do it between 6 months and a year if you can, but it will be very hard. It will cost you about $10,000 for everything, tuition, books, classes everything. Apply for scholarships, especially if you had great grades in high school. I kept a 4.0 GPA throughout my academic history, and scholarships and grants got me through college and whatever was left over was like a gift, to do as you wish with. I must have… [cont.]

How does an Independent Insurance Agency become an accepted agency for the major insurance carriers?
Q. My friend and I plan create our own Independent Insurance Agency, however our experience in the Industry is not on the producer side. Is it possible to become an accepted agency under the major carriers without having wrote business before? If not, how else is one supposed to start?
Asked by nxycmenace - Thu Aug 14 13:26:22 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Marketing, baby! Marketing to the carriers. You need to have a business plan, a license to sell, and you need to convince them that you'll be able to put business on the books. Call on your business relationships that you already have, with the marketing reps that you already know. It's almost impossible, with no sales experience, and no book to roll over, because without those two things, the odds are against your agency being successful.

What is the independent and Dependant variable in this example?
Q. I have to tell what the independant and depeandant variable was in this experiment. In brief, it is about three females who dressed preppy, and than dressed in 'messy' clothes. When they were in preppy clothes, they asked for donations, and when they were in the 'messy' clothes, they asked for donations to see if dress had an affect on someone donating. I believe the independent variable is the clothes that they wore (Could be wrong) is the defendant variable the amount of money they collected or the number of people who donated?
Asked by xayanexchanx - Tue Oct 14 22:27:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Correct on both counts! The clothes are the IV and The DV could be either -- look more closely at what they measured; did they express it in 'dollars' or 'donators'? --Usually, I don't answer questions that are for someone's class, but I think it's worthwhile to confirm it when you're obviously trying and you're on the right track. Good job!--

Q. I'm doing an experiment about roly polies and i have to determine the behavior of pillbugs in different stimuli. The stimuli are WET/DRY/BRIGHT/DULL/LIGHT /DARK. Im wondering what is the independent and dependent variables.

A. All of the different stimuli are independent variables; they are not affected by other factors, you set them and observe their effects. The dependent variable is the behavior of pill bugs; it depends on one or more of the independent variables.

A. Call your nearest IRS office and request Estimated Tax Forms. They will automatically send you forms for 2007. You still have time to receive them before your next Estimated payment, due this September 15. If not received in a few days, call again. If none are received before Sept. 15 deadline, You can send a check to your IRS located in your state. Be sure to write on the check your Social Security number, and "Estimate 2006". Be sure your current address and phone # is on the check. Your next payment is due by Jan. 15, 2007, for 2006. You should have forms by then. If you owed Estimated tax for previous quarters in 2006 and not paid them, you should calculate those and send 1/2 of the past due amount on Sept. 15, plus the regular… [cont.]

What would be the independent and dependent variables for the strength of different brands of tissues?
Q. What are the dependent and independent variables and constants for this question: Which brand of tissues is strongest? thanks so much!
Asked by Rosie S - Mon Dec 29 14:13:30 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Rosie, The key with this is to remember that the dependent variable is what is being measured - in this instance you are measuring strength and the independent variables- the things you manipulate are the tissues. So again, the independent variable is usually the participant or subject and the dependent variable is what is measured- weight, scores, heartrate etc.

How can you tell the difference between independent and dependent events?
Q. For one of our math problems, it states to say whether this problem is an independent or dependent event. 1. P(A) = 0.2, P(B) = 0.45 P(A and B) = 0.056 can someone please tell me whether this is independent or dependent and why it is that way? Please help!
Asked by just smile - Thu May 3 01:23:35 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A and B are independent if P(A and B) = P(A) x P(B). So 0.056 has to equal 0.2 x 0.45 Since 0.2 x 0.45 = 0.09 and NOT 0.056, A and B are not independent i.e. A and B are dependent

How can I find independent baseball teams in Ohio to tryout for?
Q. I want to tryout for a independent baseball team in Ohio. I can't find it online. Does anyone know anything about this? Or have any ideas?
Asked by sportscar091788 - Thu Jul 5 05:27:25 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Check in the sports section of your newspaper. I live in Youngstown and they have boxscores in the paper all the time. They also include schedules. You can go to one of the games to see if this si the type of baseball you want to play. Then after the game you can try to talk to one of the coaches. I have gone to independent games in my area. They are very laidback. Usually the players find out and join the league by word of mouth. Ex. one player is talking to another guy telling him to join the league. Its a little late to join right now. I just looked in the paper yesterday and saw that the season around here had already started. But, now is the time to start looking into teams that you may want to try out for next year.

How do you find the independent and Dependent variable?
Q. What are the independent and dependent variables in these 3 equations? Hypothesis 1: If put the ink on tissue paper then soak it in water then rings of different colors will form around the ink. Hypothesis 2: if we put a magnet in the matter, then iron will come out Hypothesis 3: If we Put the matter in a tiny dish then boil it over a burner, salt will be found.
Asked by Queen of hearts - Sun May 31 11:03:38 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the dependent variable is that one that cannot vary without another variable . Hypothesis 1: the ink is the dependent variable because what it does DEPENDS on the water . so the water is the independent one . Hypothesis 2: the iron is the dependent variable . depending on whether or not you put the magnet in the matter will determine if the iron is coming out . therefore , the magnet is independent . Hypothesis 3: salt is dependent because it depends on whether you boil or not . so the burner or heat would be independent .

How do I become an independent travel consultant?
Q. I want to become a completely independent travel consultant without joining another agency. How do I do this: licenses, certifications, insurance, access to agent-only databases, suppliers, and CSR?
Asked by babyblue2381 - Sun Feb 11 00:19:32 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The only way you're going to be able to do that is to first be an agent with a host agency. In order to get your IATAN credentials you have to have already made $5,000 in a years time booking travel. It's like becoming a real estate broker, you can't become a real estate broker until you've been an agent first. Plus, you're looking at several thousands of dollars to start up an agency. But, it's all a moot point. Suppliers aren't going to talk to you unless you've been a travel agent. The best thing to do is start with a host agency, that way you also don't have the financial risk. For all you know you might not end up liking it or not make the amount of income you need to make. Get some experience, and then in a year start… [cont.]
