A. There are so many wonderful performing arts schools, why would you want to preferably go to one in California? One the hardest Performing Arts Schools to get into, but one of the greatest, is The Actors Studio. They actually have their own show that airs on Bravo called: "Inside The Actors Studio" hosted by James Lipton. Its a show, where members of the school sit in the audience and take notes on things that the guest of the show talks about. People Ranging from Billy Crystal, to Barbra Streisand have been on that show. I'm not sure if they accept teenagers, but I do know they allowed Barbra Streisand to audition for the school when She Was 15, but at the same time that was in the 50s. But also in NYC their is The High School Of… [cont.]

Are there any performing arts studios near Columbus, Oh that have singing and dancing classes combined?
Q. I am trying to find a performing arts studio or program for my preteen to attend that has a "show-choir" class, or something similar that combines both dancing and singing. I am particularly seeking a program that requires little to no experience, and that is in the Greater Columbus area.

A. Try looking on the website It lists community arts schools. Many of them teach dance, music, art, and I know of some in my area (Philadelphia) that offer show choirs (or something similar). Good luck! Catherine K. Brown

What are the best performing arts universities in Australia?
Q. After I get my general education here in America, I want to get a Bachelors in performing arts (particularly acting) and I'm not sure which schools would be best for that.
Asked by taeler_stfu - Thu Mar 19 01:10:45 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are three top universities: NIDA in Sydney, WAAPA in Perth and VCA in Melbourne. However, they are extremely difficult to get into without a lot of prior experience and/or training and they generally don't take people who have just graduated from school. And that's the ones who actually live in Australia. I don't know how difficult it would be to get in from overseas, but my guess is just as hard. However, there are also other universities and TAFEs (a TAFE is a practical university, like for hairdressers and plumbers, etc.) that offer courses here in acting. They are infinitely easier to get into and generally offer much the same things. Some of them are straight acting courses, which means you only do acting; some do acting and… [cont.]

What are the best performing arts universities in the USA?
Q. Im looking to go to a performing arts university in the USA but as i do not currently live there i am not aware of any. Please could you recommend the best universities for performing arts in the USA. Preferably in LA or New York. Thanks :)

A. Don't assume LA or NY has the best art schools. If you are in love with simply a social dream then you may not be ready for a conservatory arts program. in Philadelphia there is the University of the Arts. then you have NYU and Juilliard in NY, Boston Conservatory in Boston. Don't forget you have to audition. It's not like other colleges where you send them a check and you are in. You have to show you have technique and have been training on you own for a good deal of time.

A. YES! I went to the boarding school Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and it was AWESOME! I wish I would have been able to go all 4 years of high school. It should provide you with a good focused education on what you want to learn, as well as being around other people who are equally talented! Good Luck! I know you would love it!

A. Well, my question to you is, Do you want to study at a famous expensive university where you can display your above average talent? OR do you just want to study at a decent somewhat inexpensive university? If you are wanting the full fledged experience where you pay one arm and a leg, you can go to the University of Southern California (USC), or The Cooper Union (New York state), or the Berklee college (New York State) If you decide to go anywhere in the usa, and dont really care so much about prestigue, I suggest you take a look at Depaul University (Chicago Illinois) or the University of Oregon (UofO) I will also let you know, some of the best performers I hae personnally known have either gone to the University of Oregon,… [cont.]

How would I find out if a stage manager has worked at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts?
Q. So I need to know if any Stage Managers who are having steady work or possibly on broadway have Stage Managed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Any suggestions?
Asked by Brian - Tue Apr 7 20:41:40 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I suspect that if you write to DCPA's HR Department, they might be able to give you some names. hrdirector@dcpa.org I would also look at a few of the shows that have moved from DCPA to National Tour, or a few National Tours that have traveled through DCPA and see who was the Stage Manager on the tour. There is no good resource to search with a cross-reference feature to link Broadway, Stage Managers and DCPA. The only other person I would suggest is writing Randy Weeks at DCPA as the person that know the good PSM vs. the bad PSM.

A. Have people preform Shakespeare while riding on the float or have people dress up as the characters from The Nutcracker and just dance around. If you want to make it Christmasey add a snow machine or paper snowflakes.
