Name for a film production company?
Q. My friends and I are starting a film production company of sorts and we need a name. It's not so much a production company, but a group of friends that collaborate together a lot. Like for our first movie, I'm directing and acting in it, my friend is producing it and is the cinematographer, her sister is also acting in it and she's helping us with editing. We just need a name. We tried using our initials but got nowhere. Our initials are ANA, EEA, and AIL, and you can't really do much with so many vowels. (We have friends that produce movies under the name of "BS Productions" because of their initials.) Our movie is sort of an Indie dark comedy. A. Yes! Atlanta's film industry is growing rapidly, but it still has a very long way to go. There are many very prolific post-production houses you can look into (Lab601, Soapbox, Guillotine to name a few) plus Tyler Perry's got his huge studio there. There are various film groups that are constantly working toward getting work produced (IMAGE film & video, The Dailies Project, the Atlanta film festival). There's also always Turner, though that's not really 'film' but certainly a lot of production, which includes TBS, TNT, TCM, CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, GameTap, and Super Deluxe. If your plan is to come out for opportunities in filmmaking, my suggestion is to be ready to be assertive. The film community itself is full of people who… [cont.]

Are furniture and bedding companies seriously stopping production of Full Size Beds, n covers?
Q. In my freecycle group i read the following post "Me and my son have just recently moved into our new apartment and he doesn't have a bed I would like to upgrade to a queen since they are no longer manufacturing full size bedroom sets and give him my old bed. I would like to see if anyone has one in good condition that they might be wanted to get rid of. If so please contact me and let me know. Thanks." Are they seriously trying to only have Twin, Queen and King? or is this lady confused.

A. Test marketing your movie. There are two ways to do this. One is to hire a research company to do a survey (in shopping malls usually). You will only give them short clips of the film-or just the trailer. The other is to have free screenings around the country. Some movies do better in New York than they do in Texas or Oregon. You will have to select two or three theaters in each market and pay the theater rent for use of their facilities and have employees there to instruct the audience to fill out the questionairs and collect the data when finished. The audience in this case is called a focus group. In either case, prepare questionairs for the audience to fill out. First collect general data from your audience: age,… [cont.]

Theatre companies? Becoming a director?
Q. Really interested in theatre production/writing/direct ing as a career. A few niggly things confuse me...What exactly is a theatre company? Is is a group or actors, writers, ect who put on plays together? and then perform in theatres? Or are all 'theatre companies' 'in-house', as in they are only affiliated to theatres/ or are they somethingg seperate? How could someone set up a theatre company ? Also, how does one become a director? Do you approach theatres with plays you want to do? Or do you find spaces and just direct and perform them? If you have a play you wrote and directed could you just approach a theatre with it, or a theatre company?Sorry, so many questions about the whole thing, but very very confused! would appreciate any help, [cont.]

What exactly is a theatre company? Some Theatre companies work in the way that Rep Companies used to work in the past. Some companies are run by one or two people, they own the company, they produce the productions but they use the same actors everytime. Then there are companies, like mine. I own the company, I am the only artistic director which means I have sole control over what happens with the company. I produce the productions and employ… [cont.]

What great 70's Japanese hard rock band had an album cover depicting 10 boys urinating together?
Q. At the time, this album cover was considered to be a very bold move for a band or a record company. This group started off as a heavy Led Zeppelin / Lucifers Friend influenced band in the late 60's early 70's. Though in their early days, the bands name was slightly different. By the time our mystery album was released (1975) they still retained much of that sound, but with more of a slick mid 70's type hard rock production. They eventually evolved into a jazz/rock fusion band by 1977, and sounded like their contemporaries of that time and genre ie. 'Return to Forever', 'Al Demiola' etc. Who were they?? karenanne s - obviously this question is directed towards people who collect rare vinyl. Why do you even bother responding?

How would you market new mineral water brand on very competitive market?
Q. Central Asian Company invited us to help with: naming, positioning, focus-groups, surveys, brand identity, advertising production, competitive analyses, defining main objectives, mediaplaning... (i.e. we will have to manage all vendors in this campaign as a PMO and will be vendors in several fields ourselves) Situation ~ 50 competitor brands - 4 Leaders Most of the brands in their campaigns communicate about purity and naturality of the water. Culturuly people in this taget-market country do not use water during a meal and for cooking. But multinational Nestle, Coca Cola and other local companies offer their water. And because of very aggressive advertising -- market is growing. I am asking for your opinion -- how to position the… [cont.]

A. Hi, It's difficult to position with so much competition. I suggest you read the book, "Positioning: The battle for your mind" by Jack Trout and Al Reis. If you position yourself as just water, you're wasting your money. You need to enter untapped markets or uses of vitamin water that differs from that of vitamin water. Perhaps you can take away from Gatorades market share in athletics... an alternative. Best of luck!

I meant no harm to the production company and also putted in the description No Copyright Infringement Intended but they still removed it. A. I'm sure the VECPA would be happy to allow you to copy the movies to the internet for viewing if you secured a distribution contract with them and agreed to pay them the millions of dollars that they probably would want for such a contract.
